Cruise the waters of Lake Tahoe
Lake Tahoe is considered one of the most beautiful lakes on the continent. It is also known for its stunning surroundings and deep blue waters. There are many activities available on the lake, either from the shore or on the water, depending on your location.
You can relax and enjoy the tranquility of a lake cruise or soak up the sun at one of Lake Tahoe’s beaches. You can also go waterskiing, wakeboarding, or tubing if you don’t like lounging around. Or, stay dry and play beach volleyball or basketball. You can also take on an aerial ropes course that includes zip lines, rope swings, and bridges.
Take a surf lesson in the Pacific Ocean
It’s an amazing feeling to stand on a surfboard, even if you have to do a few wipeouts along the way. After learning how to surf, we have seen the joy on the faces of many teens. It never gets old.
Surf lessons are available all along the California coast, but San Diego is our favorite spot to teach teens the shaka. If you are wondering what a “shaka” is, this will be the first thing that you should learn.
Visit San Francisco’s unique sites
San Francisco has many famous landmarks. Do you want to see all of them? Or would you prefer to explore the less-known parts of San Francisco? No matter what your preference, you must visit Alcatraz or the Golden Gate Bridge whenever you can. These two sites are rich in history and great for taking amazing pictures.
Alcatraz prison tour is one of the fascinating history lessons you will ever experience. It’s a wonderful place to see the views. The Golden Gate Bridge is the best view. Every time we visit, there is plenty of time to take photos. For more spectacular views and great food, you can head to Sausalito from the bridge.
Visit the animals at the San Diego Zoo
Did you know that the San Diego Zoo has conservation programs in more than 40 countries worldwide? The zoo houses many exotic animals and plants and has assisted in protecting, breeding, and caring for endangered species such as rhinos and giant pandas.
Guided tours allow you to see the animals and provide information about endangered species as well as conservation. You can also take an aerial tram to get a bird’s eye view of the animals. It takes you above the zoo as well as the surrounding parks.
Take a ride at one of California’s famous theme parks
The California theme parks are well-known, but it’s impossible to list all the things you want to do in California without including Universal Studios Hollywood. You don’t have to be too old for Mickey and Minnie. The rides and attractions at Disneyland are always fun. Star Wars-themed attractions have been added to the park this year.
Universal Studios Hollywood is another must-see. Movie-lovers can check off items on their bucket lists with attractions like the Wizarding World of Harry Potter or the World-Famous Studio Tour.
Soak up the sun at Venice Beach
It’s never dull to visit Venice Beach. It’s alive with energy. There are many exciting characters everywhere, from street performers to bodybuilders at the muscle beach and everything in between.
You can enjoy all the excitement, but the main reason you should visit Venice Beach is to see the famous Venice Beach Boardwalk. There are many great restaurants and shops to choose from, as well as a stunning view of the ocean. The boardwalk is a must-see when we visit Venice Beach.
Watch a Major League Baseball game
Fun fact: California is home to five MLB (Major League Baseball) professional sports teams. You can catch a game no matter where you live. It doesn’t matter if you are a fan of baseball. The atmosphere and the stadium snacks are enough to make it worth your while.
Take a friend along and check out the Angels, A’s or Giants’, Padres’, Padres’, or Dodgers when you visit California. Every time we visit California, we try to catch a game. (Unless your team loses).
Laugh out loud at IMPROV comedy club
This is a great way to get started if you have never been to a comedy club. IMPROV is a famous chain of comedy clubs that host comedians from all over the globe. You may have seen some of their performers throughout the years. Are you familiar with the names Jerry Seinfeld and Ellen Degeneres or Adam Sandler?
Whether you are a comedian or not, it is rare that you leave IMPROV without a smile. Comedy is the best way to bring people together.
Take a tour of UCLA’s campus
While school might not be on your mind, it’s important to remember that college exploration while you are still in high school is a great opportunity. We recommend visiting UCLA if you are a high school student who is located in Westwood.
The facilities and energy of the whole place will blow you away. It’s a wonderful way to spend an afternoon and could inspire you to apply to college.
Spot your favorite celebrities on Rodeo Drive
Rodeo Drive is an essential stop for those who love high-end fashion. The three-block stretch of boutiques and luxury shops is worth exploring, even if you don’t intend to buy anything. You might even meet a celebrity while you’re there.
We consider the street a classic location and always visit it when we are in the Beverly Hills area.
No matter where you live or what your interests are, there are many things teens can do in California. We’ve spent 36 years traveling to California with our teen summer programs and have perfected the formula for an unforgettable summer.
